How IndieTide works
Every week gets its own launch board. Products are ranked by votes from the community, and every launch keeps a permanent page of its own.
- How is the leaderboard ranked?
- Each week runs Monday to Sunday, UTC. Products are ordered by votes from signed-in people, one vote each. Ties go to the product submitted first. When the week ends, the ranking is frozen and archived.
- Why is there a weekly cap?
- Each week takes up to 30 launches, so every product gets seen. When a week fills up, you can pick the next one.
- Do I get a backlink?
- Every product page links to the maker's website. Add the IndieTide badge to your homepage and that link becomes dofollow, so it passes search ranking to your site. We check for the badge daily, and the link goes back to nofollow after two missed checks.
- How does the badge check work?
- Once a day, "IndieTideBadgeBot" loads your homepage and looks for a link to your indietide.com product page or badge image. Put the badge in the HTML your server sends, a footer works well. Badges added by JavaScript after the page loads can't be seen.
- Do I have to add the badge?
- No. The badge never affects your ranking. Without it, your product still gets its own page, and the link to your site is nofollow.
